The Probably Untrue Story of Mary (who) had a Little Lamb by Micah Levy (2000)
for narrator and orchestra

The Probably Untrue Story Of Mary is designed for the listening pleasure of children and adults alike. It is equal parts entertainment and education. Musically speaking, it is a set of variations on the familiar tune "Mary Had A Little Lamb". The variations act as "musical illustrations" for a story which is a takeoff on the familiar poem "Mary's Lamb". Additionally, lamb and listener are introduced to a famous work by Antonio Vivaldi. "Mary" has been performed by orchestras around the country including the Dallas Symphony, The San Diego Symphony and the Utah Symphony. The original CD of "Mary" (2005) won Parent's Choice’s Recommended Award. "Mary" comes in two versions: full orchestra and chamber orchestra. A 13 -minute orchestral preview has been designed for children’s concerts, introducing the audience to the concept of musical variations and the different instruments of the orchestra.
